
Adele Mara (April 28, 1923 to May 7, 2010), was an American actress, singer and dancer who appeared in films during the 1940s, 1950s, and television in the 1950s, 1960s, and later on. Adele St. Mara was her name professionally. She was offered the Columbia Pictures contract [citation required].] and gained experience in the studio's comedy shorts as well as "B" features. The title was changed to Adele Mara. One of Mara's first roles was that of a receptionist in the Three Stooges film I Can Hardly Wait. Mara as well as Leslie Brooks played the sisters of Rita Hayworth's character the Fred Astaire film You Were Never Lovelier. She is the character Alias Boston Blackie (1942) as the sister of an unjustly accused and released prisoner. The film was released by Republic Pictures after her Columbia contract was removed. There she worked in westerns and outdoor adventures. She appeared in The Vampire's Ghost, Wake of the Red Witch starring John Wayne, Angel In Exile (leading woman), Sands of Iwo Jima where John Agar is the love interestis played by John Wayne, California Passage as well as Don Siegel's Count the Hours.
